Poppy Field is a painting that initially looks just like bright flowers, but when you look closer you see a dark sky on the right and lots of painful scratches on the left. There is a sense of chaos to the work. The poppies seem to thrive despite the background, and its the flowers you remember. War and chaos; a world gone mad, yet nature prevails.
The work was originally called Acid Rain, a reference to the fall out from nuclear war. This painting cries the pain of war in drips down the canvas. The poppies remind us of WWII and the horrors of that time. In another world this painting is a vibrant picture of flowers outside a window thriving despite the harsh atmosphere.
